The BMW Motorrad range is set to expand with the arrival of a pair of maxi scooters. Scheduled for launch by the end of this year, both will feature two-cylinder petrol engines.
At some point in the future, an electrically-powered version is also going to be offered. Previewing this zero emissions model is the Concept e, which has been on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Technically, the Concept e seems to be similar to the E-Scooter that BMW first revealed back in July. Each has a range of around 60 miles (100 km), with a battery recharge time from flat of less than three hours.
The styling has moved on though, with the Concept e featuring acrylic glass side panels, rear-view video cameras and a slimmer seat unit that doesn’t look as if it would be much good at carrying a pillion passenger. Arguably, the E-Scooter appeared to be a more practical proposition, and perhaps it remains a better indicator of what the final production BMW maxi scooters will look like.
